Jaw pain might nothing to be concerned about. But if it is a persistent or recurring problem, your dentist should be consulted. In many cases, jaw pain is the result of common dental complaints.
– Gum disease infects tissue and bone surrounding teeth can cause jaw pain.
– Cavities, if left untreated, are another common source of jaw pain.
– Sinus infections are also a known cause of jaw pain.
Other causes include temporomandibular joint disorder, teeth grinding and impacted wisdom teeth which can lead to “acute pain and swelling”. A full article on the causes of jaw pain can be read at https://www.rd.com/health/conditions/causes-of-jaw-pain/.
